The Foundation
Most websites are rented: a template on someone else's platform, with someone else's limits. Ours aren't. As a Salt Spring Island website developer, we build every site on the Folklore Ecosystem Foundation — a web development platform we designed and built ourselves, from the ground up. It runs our own sites, and it runs the ones we build for the people we work with.
The Foundation is modular. Years of running Folklore taught us what a creative business actually needs from its website, and we built each of those needs into its own tool. When we build your site, you choose the modules that fit — galleries, a client portal, bookings, a journal — and skip the ones that don't. Nothing you don't need, and nothing you'll outgrow.
And when your work calls for something that doesn't exist yet, we build it. Because the platform is ours top to bottom, we can shape new tools and features around a single client's practice — no plugin marketplace to wait on, no 'sorry, the platform can't do that.'

Here's the part most web developers can't offer: we're a photography and film studio first. A big part of every build is original photography and media made for you — your place, your work, your hands — so your website is built around images that belong to you, not stock that could belong to anyone.
